Katherine T. Simons

Katherine T. Simons, 89, of Manchester, died peacefully on Friday, November 25, 2016 at Manchester Manor. She was born on December 21, 1926 in Boston, MA daughter of the late Brig. George Nelson Simons and Alice Ruth (Brunner) Simons. Kay traveled extensively with her parents, who were officers with the Salvation Army. She had resided throughout New England and New York State before moving to Manchester to live in 1996. Prior to her retirement, she was employed by the South Windsor Board of Education for over 21 years. Kay enjoyed summer trips with her parents to Old Orchard Beach and York Harbor Maine. She is survived by her nephew Aubrey Kelloway of Vero Beach, FL, four nieces; Karen Lampiasi and her husband Jack of Southbury, Kathleen Poitras of Norwich, Sandra Broughal of Plant City, FL and Patricia Simons of North Windham, several grand nieces and grand nephews and their families. In addition to her parents, Kay was predeceased by her two brothers Maj. William B. Simons and George N. Simons and her sister Alice (Simons) Kelloway. Kay's family would like to thank the nurses and staff at Manchester Manor for their kind, compassionate and wonderful care they gave her over the years she resided there. Family and friends are welcome to attend visitation on Tuesday, November 29, 2016 at Holmes Funeral Home, 400 Main St. Manchester from 10:30-11:30 am with a service to begin at 11:30 am at the funeral home.
