Justus Benjamin Joy

January 3, 1997 — November 7, 2015

Justus Joy, 18 of Manchester, passed away suddenly and tragically Saturday November 7th 2015. Justus was born on January 3rd, 1997 in Manchester, CT. He was a valued member of the MHS Class of 2016 class board. As Class Treasurer, he worked to earn money for the class through various fundraising events, including the very popular Murder Mystery. He participated in various senior events such as Homecoming and Miss MHS. His spirit and enthusiasm for his school and his fellow classmates was obvious and admired. He volunteered his time during and after school and even on weekends to help support the school community, including this years Halloween party at the high school. Justus was also a member of Link CREW and an MHS Student Ambassador. For the past 2 1/2 years he was a grocery bagger at Highland Park Market where many shoppers looked forward to seeing his 1000 watt smile. Justus was a treasured member of Troop 25 Boys Scouts of America in Manchester and achieved the highest rank of Eagle Scout. After graduating from the troop he continued to volunteer, assisting younger boys in Scouting. Justus was a sentient being from the moment he made landfall. He was a prolific artist and illustrator, a writer, a model, an actor, an athlete, a creator, a day dreamer, a volunteer, a helper, a loving friend and a genius. Justus loved The Lord of the Rings (books and movies), Naruto (manga and anime), Game of Thrones (books and TV program), theoretical battles between fantasy characters, talking about ideas, and thinking about thinking. Justus was as deep as the ocean floor and was long confounded by the shallowness of the earth. Justus is survived by his mother Elizabeth Doll and her partner Brian Majewski, his father Shelby Joy and his wife Dariella, his little brothers Josiah and Jonah Joy, his grandparents Jeff and Dale Doll, Carol Bucello and Frederick Joy, his great grandpa Grampy Clint, his Uncle Scott and Aunt Kristin, and his Aunt Holly and Uncle Jordan. He has many, many additional relatives from the Doll and Joy extended families and countless family friends who he loved and who love and miss him. We were, are, and always will be proud of our beautiful boy and all of his quirks and accomplishments. Calling hours will be held on Saturday November 14, 2015 from 4:30-7:00 pm at Center Congregational Church, 11 Center St. in Manchester with a celebration of life following immediately after at 7:00 PM.
