Julia A. Shrider

Julia Ann (Hayes) Shrider, 88, of Murrells Inlet, South Carolina died on November 1, 2022, at Tidelands Waccamaw Community Hospital. Julia was born in Zanesville, Ohio, on July 16, 1934, daughter of Roxie and Russell Hayes. She was raised in Ohio and graduated from Zanesville High School and Wittenberg University, where she earned a Bachelor of Science degree in teaching. She taught in Columbus, Ohio, Corpus Christi, Texas, and Rochester, New York. Julia and her husband, Phillip, moved to Manchester, CT, where they raised their four children and owned and operated the former Shrider Fluid Power Company. After her children went to college, she re-entered teaching, focusing on working with students in special education. She was predeceased by her loving husband, John Phillip Shrider. They were married for 59 years. She is survived by two sons and a daughter. Stephen H. Shrider and his wife, Denise, of Roscoe, Illinois and their children, Matthew (his daughter, Paisleigh), Phillip and his fianc, Ree Kethey; daughter, Stephanie and her husband, Jade; Gregory J. Shrider and his wife, Heidi, of Mount Airy, Maryland and their children, Jeffrey and Courtney; Julie A. Roy and her husband, Allen, of Greenville South Carolina, and their children Rachel and Reagan. Julia was predeceased by her son, Jeffrey P. Shrider, and her sister, Sarah Hayes. Family will gather for a private graveside service at East Cemetery in Manchester, Connecticut at a later date. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Concordia Lutheran Church, 40 Pitkin St. in Manchester, CT, in care of Home Care Ministries.
