Juanita (Stanevich) Darling, 71 of Manchester, CT died Wednesday, May 4, 2016 at Manchester Memorial Hospital. She was born on September 13, 1944 in Middlebury, CT, daughter of the late Joseph and Olga (Baltrukonis) Stanevich. She was raised in Middlebury and resided for many years in Southington before coming to Manchester in 2000. Prior to retiring Juanita had been a manager and broker in the insurance and retail industry. She was a parishioner of St. Bridget Church and a member of Amnesty International.
For many years, Juanita has been active in St. Bridget's parish. Aside from caring for her first love, a big, beautiful cat named Tabitha, most of her time was spent participating in many important parish roles. She was a member of St. Bridget's Pastoral Council, was the chief research expert for the Spiritual Life Ministry, spent a year journeying through Engaging Spirituality, was dedicated to her work with St. Vincent de Paul and loved being a greeter at the 4:00 PM Saturday Mass. Her presence will be sorely missed by her many parish friends .
She is survived by two brothers, Thomas P. Stanevich and his wife Carol of Middlebury, and Joseph P. Stanevich of Connecticut. Also her niece and three nephews, Terry Stanevich, Brian Stanevich, Christopher Stanevich, and Zachary Stanevich.
Friends may call on Thursday, May 12, from 9:30 AM to 10:30 AM at the Holmes Funeral Home, 400 Main Street, Manchester, followed by a Mass of Resurrection at 11:00 AM at St. Bridget Church, 70 Main Street, Manchester. Burial will be private.
