Josephine Gloria Gardner

J. Gloria (DeSimone) Gardner, 89 of Tolland, formerly of Enfield, Manchester and Vernon beloved wife of the late Albert T. Gardner, passed away Friday, September 2, 2016 at Woodlake at Tolland. Gloria was born April 24, 1927 in Manchester daughter of the late Luigi and Angelina DeSimone. She was raised in Manchester, lived in Enfield for more than 50 years and retired from Aetna Insurance Company as a Supervisor. She returned to live in Manchester and Vernon for several years. She was an avid fan of the UCONN Women Basketball and Boston Red Sox. Gloria is survived by her loving family, a daughter, Linda Whitcomb and her husband, Frank of Manchester, two sons, Thomas C. Gardner of Enfield and Daniel Gardner and his wife, Patricia of Bolton, her daughter-in-law Mary Gardner of Vernon, eight grandchildren, Traci, Kerri, Kelly, Karen, Jennifer, Kevin, Caitlin, Riley, nine great-grandchildren, Calvin, Alexis, Jenna, Kylee, Sarah, Janae, Savannah, Noah, Justin, nieces, nephews, great-nieces, great-nephews and their families. Besides her parents and husband, Josephine was predeceased by her son Michael Gardner, five sisters, Anna (DeSimone) Burke, Elizabeth (DeSimone) Pavelack, Emma DeSimone, Josephine DeSimone and Santina DeSimone, her two brothers, Joseph DeSimone and Francis DeSimone. Funeral services will be held on Thursday, September 8, 2016 at 12 pm at Holmes Funeral Home 400 Main St. Manchester. Burial will follow in East Cemetery Manchester. A calling hour will be prior to the service from 11 am until 12 pm at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to a charity of the donor's choice.
