Joseph W. Senna Jr. 86, of Manchester, beloved husband of Edith (Salter) Senna, died peacefully Wednesday June 17, 2015 with his family at his side. Joe was born April 24, 1929 in Williston, VT., son of the late Joseph W. Senna Sr. and Stella Mae (Gay) Senna and moved to Manchester in 1943. He enlisted in the U.S. Navy and also served in the U.S. Army. Joe had worked for Underwood Typewriter, Royal Typewriter, Pratt & Whitney Aircraft and retired in 1994 as Maintenance Coordinator with the Town of South Windsor Board of Education. He attended the Church of the Assumption in Manchester and was a member of the V.F.W. Post # 2046 in Manchester and the American Legion Post #102 in Manchester.
In addition to his wife he is survived by three children, Barbara A. (Senna) Oliveira of Manchester, Ronald J. Senna and his wife Lorelei of Greenville, NC, Mary A. Senna of Manchester and two grandchildren, Eleanore Lukasiewicz and her husband John of Chicago, IL, and Wesley R. Senna of Greenville, NC. Other survivors include his sister Gail Plossay and her husband John of Manchester, niece Temple Fiergola, her husband Alan and their son Avery, all of Florida, and nephew Erik Symonds of Manchester. He was predeceased by a brother, Dallas G. Senna and a sister, Joyce E. Senna.
Funeral services will be held Monday, June 22, 2015 at 11:00 AM at the Holmes Funeral Home, 400 Main St., Manchester. Burial with Military Honors will be held in the Veteran's section of the East Cemetery. Visitation will be Monday at the funeral home from 10:00 AM until the time of the service.
