Johnet Coffey Kompanik, lovingly known as "Nennie," passed away peacefully on March 15, 2025, in Glastonbury, CT, at the age of 81. Born on November 23, 1943, she was the daughter of the late John T. Coffey and Anne Coffey. Johnet began her career at Pratt & Whitney but found her true calling in caring for others, running a small in-home daycare while raising her two sons.
Her passion for antiques led her to a lifelong pursuit of buying and selling unique treasures. Whether attending or hosting tag sales, she had a keen eye for valuable finds and took great joy in sharing them with others. She was a dedicated vendor at the Mansfield Flea Market every Sunday in season, rain or shine, and was well known for always having something special to offer. Johnet continued the tag sale and flea market hobby well into her later years of life, while also attending family gatherings, enjoying holiday celebrations and cheering on her beloved grandchildren in their various endeavors.
Johnet was predeceased by her husband, Alan Kompanik. She is survived by her two sons, Ryan A. Kompanik (Heather), of Huntersville, NC, and Kevin J. Kompanik (Laura), of Hebron, CT. She was a devoted grandmother to five cherished grandchildren: Caroline and Brady Kompanik of Huntersville, and Mason, Taylor, and Carter Kompanik of Hebron. Johnet also leaves behind her dear brother, John Coffey (Patty), as well as her sister, Nancy Deane (Stu). She will be deeply missed by her close friends, Edith Hatfield and Carol King.
A time to honor and remember Johnet will be held on Saturday, April 26, 2025, with Calling Hours from 2:00 to 3:30pm, followed by a Memorial Service at 3:30pm, at Holmes Funeral Home, 400 Main St., Manchester, CT.
Her family would like to extend their heartfelt gratitude to the staff at Glastonbury Health Care Center for their compassionate care since August 2024. Johnet’s warmth, humor, and love for the simple joys in life will be dearly missed by all who knew her.
