John Fredrick Kunz

John F. Kunz, 87, of Stonington, formerly of Manchester, died peacefully on Saturday July 3, 2021, at Westerly Hospital in Westerly, RI. He was born in Middletown, July 28, 1933, son of the late Edgar and Evelyn (Robertson) Kunz. John was a graduate of Hartford Public High School and attended Wilbraham Academy and UConn. Prior to his retirement he was a long-time employee of Aetna Life and Casualty and later worked for Sedgewick James Insurance. John was a longtime member of St. Marys Episcopal Church in Manchester. He was a talented athlete and received a scholarship to UConn as a running back. He had a passion for sports; UConn Football, Basketball, and the Boston Red Sox. He loved to travel with his wife Rosemarie of 59 years whom he adored; they loved to spend time on the Cape especially Chatham, Ma. He is survived by his three children John F. Kunz Jr. and Jean Frigon of Coventry, Sharon A. and Dr. Alex Miano of Stonington, and James W. Kunz of Manchester, his brother Edgar Kunz of Newtown Square, PA. He also leaves behind his three beloved grandchildren Michael Miano of Maryland, Scott Miano of Stonington, and Raven Kunz of East Hampton. In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by his wife Rosemarie (Bongiovanni) Kunz and his sister Isabelle Hager. Johns family would like to thank the nurses and doctors of Westerly Hospital for their compassionate care.
