Obituary

John Paul Cicchiello, 71, of Waterbury, passed away on Wednesday, February 25, 2026. Born in Waterbury on July 19, 1954, he was the son of Ann (Napolitano) Cicchiello and the late Angelo Cicchiello.

John was raised in Waterbury and was a graduate of Wilby High School. Shortly after graduation, he enjoyed traveling and subsequently moved to California, where he spent several years before returning to Connecticut in the late 1980s. Upon his return, he met his former wife, Karleen Stula. They married and made their home in Columbia, where they raised their family together.

A dedicated and hardworking man, John operated his own painting business for many years. John was also a salesman at several local auto dealerships throughout the 1990s and early 2000s.

John found great joy in life’s simple pleasures. He loved sailing, fishing and venturing to Marco Island with his friends. He was a devoted fan of UConn Huskies' basketball, rarely missing the opportunity to watch a game. John had excellent taste in music, was a pool shark and was able to strike up conversation and make friends wherever he went. He will be remembered most for his quick wit and terrific sense of humor.

He is survived by his loving mother, Ann Cicchiello; his daughter, Eve Cicchiello and her partner, Joshua Jones; his stepdaughter, Kara Cicchiello; Kara and Eve’s mother, Karleen Cicchiello; his sister, Annette “Chick” Clark and her husband, Jack Clark; as well as many nieces, nephews, extended family members, and friends.

In addition to his father, John was predeceased by his stepdaughter, Maria Cicchiello; his brothers, Joseph “Butch” Cicchiello and Thomas Cicchiello; and his nephew, Jason Cicchiello.

Calling hours will be held on Saturday, March 14, 2026, from 12:00 to 2:00 PM at Holmes-Watkins Funeral Home, 400 Main Street, Manchester, Connecticut 06040. A 2:00 PM chapel service will immediately follow at the funeral home. Burial will be private.

John’s memory will live on in the laughter he inspired, the friendships he cherished, and the love he shared so freely with those around him.
