Joanne Fletcher Susag, 90, of Manchester, CT, loving wife of 70 years to Philip Susag, died peacefully on Saturday, September 19, 2015. Joanne was born on December 28, 1924, in Minneapolis, MN, daughter of the late Abbott Lee and Louise Chandler Fletcher. She had been a resident of Manchester, CT, since 1946. In addition to her husband, Philip, she is survived by her son, Lee Susag of Coventry, her daughter, Missy Susag of Edina, MN, her grandson, Jonathan Grobofski and his wife, Marissa, and their son, J.J., all of Manchester, her sister-in-law, Betty Fletcher Mast of Edina, MN, and loving nieces and nephews. She was also predeceased by her brothers Alfred and Fremont Fletcher. Joanne was a graduate of Carleton College, Northfield, MN, where she remained an active member of the alumni association. She was a member of South United Methodist Church for 69 years and was an active member of United Methodist Women locally and regionally. Other church affiliations include her service as treasurer of the New England Southern Conference of the United Methodist Church, and treasurer of the New England Chapter of the United Methodist Church Credit Union. She also served as the president of the Greater Hartford Region YWCA; president of the Hartford Seminary Women's Board where she was also a trustee; and was a founding member of the Manchester Community Services Council. A memorial service will be celebrated on Saturday, October 3, 2015, at 10:00 a.m. at South United Methodist Church, 1226 Main St., Manchester, CT. There are no calling hours.
