Joan (Breton) Pouliot Kroll, age 81 of Manchester, loving wife for 26 years of Kermit W. Kroll, and former wife of the late John P. Pouliot, died Tuesday, May 13, 2014 at her home with her family by her side.
Joan was born in Hartford, CT on April 21, 1933, daughter of the late Louis and Beatrice (Benoit) Breton. She was raised in Windsor, attended local schools, and was a resident of East Hartford when she started raising her family. Over the years she had also lived in Coventry and Manchester.
She began her banking career at the former Hartford National Bank in 1963 and retired as a loan officer in 1990. She won a scholarship from the National Assoc. of Bank Women to attend the Stonier Graduate School of Banking at Rutgers University in New Brunswick, NJ, and graduated in June of 1976. Joan loved to entertain in her home and was the perfect hostess. She enjoyed listening to classical music and was a former member of the East Hartford Womens Club and St. Isaac Jogues Church.
With her husband, she is survived by four children, Gisele G. Bozzi and her husband John of East Hampton, Diane J. Barto and her husband Bruce of Vernon, John P. Pouliot Jr. and his wife Susan of Windsor, and Thomas A. Pouliot of Manchester; six grandchildren, Lauren, Erica, Steven, Kenny, Douglas, and Austin, and many nieces and nephews. Beside her parents she was predeceased by a brother, Normand Breton.
A prayer service will be held Saturday, May 17, at 10:30 AM at the Holmes Funeral Home, 400 Main Street, Manchester, with burial to follow in the East Cemetery in Manchester.
