Jerry N. Coro, 91, of Vernon formerly of Manchester beloved husband of the late Gloria L. (Griffin) Coro passed away Friday, February 26, 2016 after a brief illness at Manchester Memorial Hospital. His loving wife Gloria predeceased him recently, on Monday, February 8, 2016. Jerry was born in Ashland, ME on August 22, 1924 son of the late George and Rose (Plourde) Coro. He was a proud U.S.M.C. veteran of WWII serving in the South Pacific. Jerry lived in Manchester for more than fifty years before moving to Vernon five years ago. Before retiring, he owned and operated a wholesale bread business. He was a longtime member of St. Mary's Episcopal Church Manchester and volunteered his time at a local shelter. He loved to be outside, a passion that arose from growing up in the woods of Maine and nothing made him happier than to be tending to his lawn and puttering in the yard. In the autumn of his life one of his greatest joys was being able to travel the world with his wife. Loved by all who came to know him, he was big-hearted, generous and the first in line to volunteer his time and energy. But above all, he loved and adored his grandchildren. Jerry is survived by three daughters, Sharon Coro and her husband, James Sprague of Tolland, Donna Coro of South Windsor, Victoria Coro of Manchester, three grandchildren, Taylor Ouimette and her husband Daniel, Lyndsey Sprague, Laura Gaumont, a great-granddaughter, Kloe Willow Ouimette and numerous nieces, nephews and their families. Besides his parents and wife he was predeceased by a sister and three brothers. Funeral services will be Friday, March 4, 2016 at 12 p.m. at St. Mary's Episcopal Church 41 Park Street Manchester. Burial will follow with military honors in East Cemetery Manchester. Family and friends may call Thursday, March 3, 2016 at Holmes Funeral Home 400 Main St. Manchester from 4 pm to 7 pm.
