Jean H. Kocsis

Jean Hannay (McCann) Kocsis, 87, of Manchester, CT, died Thursday, April 13, 2017 at Hartford Hospital. She was the loving wife for thirty eight years of the late Louis C. Kocsis Jr. who predeceased her on March 14, 2017.

Jean was born in Albany, New York on December 14, 1929, daughter of the late Hamilton and Marion (Hunt) Hannay. She was raised in New York before coming to Manchester in 1940.
Jean was an active member of the Orford Parish-Pitkin Chapter of the Daughters of the American Revolution (DAR), the Manchester Republican Town Committee, Republican Women's Club, Pitkin Glass Works, the Permanent Memorial Day Parade Committee, the Ellsworth Memorial Association and was a member of South United Methodist Church since 1951, serving as Sunday school teacher, Membership Secretary, Administration Board, and was a member of the Reynolds circle of the United Methodist Women.

Jean was retired from the State of CT Corrections Dept. and Westside Multicare Health Facility. She enjoyed bowling, quilting and knitting.

Jean is survived by her daughters, Rodean Gyokeri and her husband Miklos of Coventry, CT, and Cynthia Anderson and her husband Michael of Hebron, CT; two stepchildren, Louis C. Kocsis III and his wife Deborah of Roebling, NJ, Linda Anderson of Florence, NJ.; eight grandchildren, Brian Anderson and his wife Erin of Coventry, Debra Anderson of Boston, MA, CW2 Joseph Gyokeri, U.S. Army of Coventry, Corrine, Jill, and David Kocsis, all of Roebling, NJ, Lisa Buchanan of Windsor Locks, CT, and Jefferi Gyokeri of Buckeye, AZ; three great- grandchildren, Samantha and Alexandra Anderson of Coventry, and Tifani Buchanan of Windsor Locks; her sister Elizabeth DeMartin of Bolton. Beside her husband Jean was predeceased by her son Dana Allan McCann.

Her funeral service will be held Thursday May 4, 2017, at 11:00 AM at South United Methodist Church, 1226 Main Street, Manchester, with burial to follow in the East Cemetery in Manchester. Her husband Louis will also be buried at the same time with military honors. Visiting hours for family and friends are Wednesday, May 3, from 4 PM to 7 PM at the Holmes Funeral Home, 400 Main Street, Manchester.
