J. Paul Harnois Jr., 71 of Manchester, loving husband for 46 years of Kathleen A. (Croner) Harnois, died Friday, June 10, 2016 after a courageous battle with cancer. He was surrounded by his family. Paul was born in Woonsocket, RI on March 9, 1945, son of the late Jean Paul and Irene (Casey) Harnois. He was raised in Rhode Island and had been a resident of Vernon/Manchester since 1975. He was a combat veteran of the Vietnam War, serving in the US Army. Paul was a graduate of Michigan State University and was employed by the former Dean Machine Company and H&R Block in Manchester. Paul was an avid sports fan who loved Patriots football, UConn basketball, Red Sox baseball, and all sports with his children and grandchildren. He also enjoyed playing cards with friends and family, opportunities to get out on the golf course and trips to the beach with his wife. He was a former member of the Knights of Columbus. He was an active member of St. Bartholomew's Parish in Manchester and was active in activities supporting the Manchester Area Conference of Churches (MACC). With his wife, he is survived by his daughter and two sons, Andrea Hakian and her husband Cedric of Manchester, David Harnois of San Diego, CA, and Mark Harnois and his wife Agnieszka of Manchester; seven grandchildren, Benjamin, Sofia, Cedric, Isaac, Xiomara, Natalia, and Elsa; two sisters and two brothers, Pauline Casey of Rhode Island, Theresa Casey of Massachusetts, Raymond Harnois of Florida, Phillip Harnois of Rhode Island, and several nieces and nephews. Funeral services are Wednesday, June 15, at 9:15 AM at the Watkins Funeral Home, 142 East Center Street, Manchester with a Mass of Christian Burial at 10:00 AM at St. Bridget Church, 70 Main Street, Manchester. Burial with military honors will follow in Veteran's Memorial Cemetery on Hillstown Road in Manchester, CT. Visiting hours are Tuesday, June 14th from 5 PM to 7 PM at the funeral home.
