Janice "Jan" Santini (Glidie) of Vernon, lived a life, filled with love, joy, and cherished memories. She passed away peacefully, surrounded by her loving family, on September 13, 2024. Born at Manchester Hospital on May 16, 1953, to Andrew and Lilyan (Barnowski) Glidie, she was the youngest of four sisters and grew up in Manchester. Jan graduated from Manchester High School in 1971 and, just a year later, in 1972, married the love of her life, Andrew Santini.
Together, they spent over 52 years building a life of love, laughter, and adventure. They raised four wonderful children, and their family grew, filling their home with even more love. She leaves behind Joe Santini and his husband Edison Frazer, Jeff Santini and his wife Kara, Tina Santini, and Nikki Santini. Her pride and joy were her grandchildren-Kayla Santini and her fiancé Kevin Marley, Drew, Bryan, Jillian-and her great-granddaughter Malia, who brought her much happiness.
Throughout her life, Jan nurtured a wide array of passions. She enjoyed camping in the Catskills with her young family. She had a deep love for horses, was an avid bowler, and enjoyed the art of ceramics. She found peace and pleasure in fishing and spending time at the family's beach house in Misquamicut, Rhode Island. This beloved getaway became a place of treasured memories for family and friends.
Jan brought the same joy and energy to her professional life as well. As a long-time school bus driver in Vernon, she became a fixture in the community, forming lasting friendships among her friends at the bus lot. Later, she worked for the DMV as an Examiner, helping to shape the future of new drivers, including those pursuing CDL licenses, like the bus drivers she once worked alongside.
Jan was predeceased by her loving parents, Andrew and Lilyan Glidie, her in-laws Alfio and Mary (Leone) Santini, and her sisters Andrea Glidie and Gladys Pottinger. She leaves behind her sister Joyce Phillips, cousins, nieces, nephews, and countless friends whose lives were touched by her kindness, humor, and warm spirit.
In every role she filled-daughter, sister, wife, mother, grandmother, mimi, friend-Jan exuded love, leaving an indelible mark on the hearts of all who knew her. She lived a life full of joy, passion, and devotion to those she loved, and her legacy will live on in the memories of her family and friends.
