Jane (Denhup) Hurlburt, 89, of Manchester, CT passed away peacefully at her home on December 14, 2018 after a long illness. "Grandma Jane" was born in Downingtown, PA on July 17, 1929 and moved to Manchester, CT as a young girl where she made her home and lived for the rest of her life. To help support her growing family Jane worked for several area businesses including Millers Falls, Pioneer Parachute, and The Costume Shoppe. She was a very talented seamstress who could always make clothes fit beautifully or put together awesome Halloween costumes. Family was her priority and she was extremely proud of her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She enjoyed traveling, trips to the casinos, and was a UCONN Women's Basketball fan. Jane is survived by her sister (and frequent traveling partner) Maxine Doering of East Hartford and three daughters; Paula Bailey of Alabaster, AL, Linda Flavell of Lebanon, CT and Carol Riordan and her husband David of Willington, CT, her sisters-in-law Pearl Hurlburt of Rockville, CT and Marion Tobias of Manchester, CT, 8 grandchildren Christopher, Kelly, Summer, Dustin, Ethan, Kelsey, Galen and Patrick, 8 great-grandchildren Hadley, Jaxon, Neave, Cullen, Finn, Roger, Opal and Helena, and many nieces, nephews, loving friends and neighbors. Besides her parents, Jane was predeceased by her husband of 40 years Roger, with whom she is now happily reunited. Family and friends are invited to attend a time of visitation on Tuesday, December 18, 2018, from 10 a.m.-12 p.m. with a service to begin at 12 p.m. at Holmes-Watkins Funeral Home, 400 Main St., Manchester. Burial will follow in East Cemetery, Manchester. In memory of Janes caring and giving nature, the family requests that donations may be made to the charity of the donors choice.
