James H. Benton

James H. Benton, 88 of Manchester, beloved, father, grandfather, brother, uncle, passed away Sunday, May 17, 2015. James was born in Hartford, July 11, 1926, son of the late Charles and Mary M. (Monohan) Benton and resided in Manchester for most of his life. He was a proud veteran of the U.S. Marine Corps serving during WW II in Iwo Jima and was a recipient of the Purple Heart. He was employed for 30 years at Phoenix Insurance Company, Hartford retiring as a printing supervisor. Mr. Benton is survived by his loving family, two daughters, Karen Troy and husband John from Manchester, Susan Donovan and husband Michael from Tolland, five grandchildren, Colin Troy, Timothy Troy, Haley Troy, Matthew Donovan and wife Hillary, Erin Donovan, brother Robert Benton and several nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents, James was predeceased by his brother, Charles Benton. The family would like to thank Hughes Health and Rehabilitation for their loving care during his last months. A special thank you to Stephanie and Deborah for all their support during this difficult time. Funeral services and burial with military honors will be private.
