Jacoba (Van Alphen) "Jackie" Wallert, 85, longtime resident of Manchester, wife of the late Jan Wallert, died Thursday, March 22, 2018 at an assisted living facility after an extended illness.
She was born in Zwanenburg, The Netherlands on December 11, 1932, daughter of Louis and Theadora (Karel) Van Alphen, was raised in The Netherlands, and came to Manchester in 1964. Prior to retiring Jackie had been employed at The Hartford Insurance Company for over twenty years. She was a longtime and active parishioner of St. Bartholomew Church in Manchester, serving as a Eucharistic Minister, and volunteering for numerous activities.
Jackie is survived by three children, Ron Wallert and his wife Page of Alpharetta, GA, Eric Wallert and his wife Kim of Tolland, and Ellen Sheridan and her husband Tom of Manchester; six grandchildren, Ashley Sheridan, Kerri Cavanaugh, Jordan Sheridan, Alexa Wallert, Ryan Wallert, and Morghan Wallert; three great-grandchildren, Alex, Connor, and James, and numerous nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be Wednesday, March 28, 9:15 AM at the Holmes-Watkins Funeral Home, 400 Main Street, Manchester with a Mass of Christian Burial at 10:00 AM at St. Bartholomew Church/St. Theresa of Calcutta Parish, 45 Ludlow Road, Manchester. Burial will follow in the East Cemetery in Manchester. Visiting hours are Tuesday from 5 PM to 8 PM at the funeral Home. Memorial contributions may be made to the Alzheimer's Association.
