Henry Joseph Zatkowski, Jr. died Tuesday, June 20, 2017 after a well-fought battle with cancer at his daughter's home with family at his side. He was 79 years old. Henry was born and raised in Manchester, the son of Henry and Sophie (Sumislaski) Zatkowski. He was a resident of Colchester later in life. His last days were spent in the loving care of his daughter and son-in-law, Lisa Jo and John, in Bolton. Left to love and cherish his memory are his daughters, Jill Zatkowski of Manchester, Lisa Jo Gavin and her husband, John Gavin, of Bolton, and his significant other, Barbara Jandreau, of Colchester. He leaves his six grandchildren, who he loved and was so proud of, Adam Gavin, Kyle Gavin, Hannah Kanter and her husband, Jeremiah Kanter, Leah Gavin, Halle Gavin, and Riley Gavin. He also leaves his two great-grandchildren, Linnea Kanter and Emmett Kanter, and his former wife, Patricia Zatkowski. Hank proudly served in the US Navy. He was a fireman for the Eighth Utilities District Fire Department in Manchester and Pratt and Whitney Aircraft. He loved watching westerns and war movies. During his last days, many stories were shared of how he loved to be of service to others. He will be missed greatly and loved forever. Calling hours and funeral will be held at Holmes Funeral Home, 400 Main Street, Manchester, on Monday, June 26, with the wake beginning at 10:00am and funeral service at 11:00am. Burial with military honors will follow at St. John the Baptist Polish National Catholic Cemetery in Manchester.
