Henry Joseph Frey

Henry Joseph Frey, 94 of Manchester, CT and Deerfield Beach, FL beloved husband for 67 years of the late Audrey (Waddell) Frey passed away Sunday, February 5, 2017 surrounded by his family. Henry was born in Manchester on December 1, 1922, son of the late Stephen and Mary (Pongratz) Frey. He graduated from Manchester High School Class of 1941 and then served proudly in the U.S. Army Air Forces during WWII. He worked as a US Postal Clerk for many years in Manchester before retiring in 1991. Previous to that he was employed at the former Underwood Typewriter, Hartford, CT. He also was a lifetime member of the Manchester Lodge of ELKS. In his earlier years, Henry was an avid duck pin bowler in many town leagues, also played town softball and volleyball. He loved the NY Yankees, NY Giants and UCONN Men's and Women's basketball. Henry was a longtime member of Zion Evangelical Lutheran Church of Manchester. Henry is survived by his loving family, a daughter, Linda Sagan and her husband Dana of Tolland, two grandchildren, whom he was particularly proud of: Jessica Sagan of West Hartford and Christopher Sagan of Newington; a sister-in-law, Maureen Tomkiel of Manchester; a brother - in-law, Sam Cipolla fo East Hartford; a sister-in-law Catherine Frey of Massachusetts and numerous nieces and nephews. Besides his wife and parents he was predeceased by two sisters, Mary Cipolla, Annie Magnan and three brothers, Stephen Frey, Joseph Frey and William Frey. The family also wishes to express a special thanks to Stacey Tomkiel and Lucille Wall for their love and support and the staff of Brookdale South Windsor. Funeral services will be Monday, February 13, at 10 am at Holmes Funeral Home 400 Main Street Manchester. Burial will follow with military honors in East Cemetery, Manchester. Visiting hours will be Sunday Feb. 12 from 2-5 pm at the funeral home. Memorial contributions may be made to the American Heart Association P. O.
