Helen A. (Biske) Packard, 94 of Manchester, widow of Joseph L. Packard, died Saturday April 25, 2015 at a local convalescent home with her family by her side.
Helen was born in Manchester on February 10, 1921, daughter of Stanley and Anna (Tracewska) Biske. She was a lifelong Manchester resident, attending local schools and graduating from Manchester High School, and attending the Catholic churches in Manchester with her family. Helen was a most loving and gifted person who devoted her life to her family and to helping and caring for others. A gifted seamstress, she designed and created the clothing for her seven children. In her elderly years, she used her talent to produce over five hundred baptism dresses for babies in Haiti.
She leaves her seven children, Joseph S. Packard and his wife Anne of Glendale, CA, Mary A. Leone and her husband William of The Villages, FL, Eileen H. Packard of Glastonbury, Bernadette P. Cote of Gilbert, AZ, Thomas E. Packard and his wife Pamela of Walnut Creek, CA, William C. Packard of Phoenix, AZ, and Annette S. Peck and her husband Roger of Manchester; eight grandchildren, and thirteen great-grandchildren. Besides her husband Helen was predeceased by a grandson, William C. Packard Jr., a brother, Edward Biske, and a son-in-law, Leroy R. Cote.
Funeral services will be held Wednesday, April 29, at 9:45 am at the Holmes Funeral Home, 400 Main Street, Manchester with a Mass of Resurrection at 10:30 am at St. Bartholomew Church, 45 Ludlow Road in Manchester. Burial will follow in St. James Cemetery in Manchester. Visiting hours are Tuesday from 2 to 4 pm and 6 to 8 pm at the funeral home.
