Helen Emma Boyer Owen of Stafford, CT, formerly of Ellington, Vernon and Manchester, CT & Millinocket, ME passed away peacefully on June 17,2024. Helen was predeceased by her parents Elvira Mascetta Boyer and Lloyd Boyer, and her sisters Maria Lynch and Nancy Boyer.
She is survived by her brother Fred Boyer of Millinocket, ME, and her children Lynn Peterson of Willington, Lori May and her husband Rich of Ellington, Maria Saunders of Vernon, Charity West and her husband Ben of Vernon, Scott Owen of Vernon and Cookie Maldonado of New Jersey. Her grandchildren Debi Flynn, David Skirvin, Jesse May, Eric Saunders, Jennifer Saunders, Cheyenne West, Kyle May, Brooke West, Sara Bernabucci, Matthew Saunders, James West, Tiffany Kinneair, Savannah Owen, and Sebastian Owen. Her great-grandchildren Ryan Flynn, Layana May, Noah Saunders, Ethan Saunders, and Madelyn Saunders.
Helen grew up in Millinocket, ME and was a 1963 graduate of St. Martins Parochial School in Millinocket, ME. In May of 1967 she married her husband Claude, and they raised their family in Manchester, CT before his passing in 1989. Helen worked for over 35 years as an answering service operator/supervisor at Edwards Answering Service in Vernon, CT.
Helen was a devoted mother, nana, great grandma, and her family was her pride and joy. Helen not only raised her children, but also cared for many others throughout the years. She was always there for her family and friends. Helen enjoyed spending time with family, crocheting, and baking. She was an avid fan of UCONN basketball, the Boston Red Sox, the Boston Celtics, the New England Patriots, and Nascar racing.
Her family would like to thank the staff at Evergreen Health and Woodlake Nursing homes, and Trinity hospice of CT for the care and compassion she received.
A celebration of her life will be held on Thursday June 27, 2024 at 10am with a funeral service at 11:30 AM. Procession to Buckland Cemetery in Manchester, CT to follow immediately after the funeral service from the Holmes-Watkins Funeral Home, 400 Main Street., Manchester, CT.
