Hazel (Green) Aronson Sullivan, 86 of Windham, formerly of Coventry and Manchester, widow of James J. Sullivan, died Monday November 10, 2014 at Douglas Manor in Windham.
Hazel was born in Springfield, MA on November 24, 1927, daughter of the late Carl E. and Beatrice (Walsh) Green. She was raised in Manchester, graduated from Manchester High School with the Class of 1945, and was a member of the South United Methodist Church. She lived in Coventry most of her adult life and prior to retiring in 1985 she was a supervisor at the former Mansfield Training School for twenty years.
Among her many lifelong enjoyments were listening to music, working in her flower garden, and traveling throughout the United States. She was very artistic, painting, playing the piano and organ, and adored the company of her canine companions.
Hazel is survived by four children and their spouses, Linda Radich and her husband Louis of Lindstrom, MN, Robert Aronson and his wife Margie of Cooper City, FL, Lori Dietz and her husband Peter of Canterbury, CT, and Roland Rossano and his wife Erica of Federal Way, WA; her sister, Ellen Rylander and her husband Richard of Westerly, RI; eight grandchildren, twelve great-grandchildren, and a niece and her family. Besides her parents, Hazel was predeceased by a foster daughter, Susan West, and a great-granddaughter, Zoey Pung.
A funeral service will be held Friday, Nov. 14, at 11:00 AM at the Holmes Funeral Home, 400 Main Street, Manchester, with burial to follow in the East Cemetery in Manchester.
