Harriet Standish Spencer, 99, of 50 Thomas Drive, Manchester, CT, passed away at Manchester Manor October 15, 2018. Born in Willimantic, CT, daughter of Harry Webb Standish and Nellie Wilmarth Standish, she is predeceased by her brother, Basil W. Standish and Evalyn Standish Maine, and by her beloved husband of 61 years, Kerwin Alton Spencer Sr. She graduated from Windham High School and attended Willimantic State Teachers College. She was a lifelong member of First Congregational Church of Willimantic and Center Congregational Church of Manchester where she has been a member of its Women's Group. She also belonged to the Women's Auxiliary of Manchester Memorial Hospital. Among her great loves was the family vacation property in Sebago, Maine where she enjoyed swimming, boating, and picnics with family and friends. Harriet is survived by her three sons and their families: Alton and his wife Martha Eaton Spencer, Randall and his wife Shelley Marie Spencer, and Jonathan. Her grandchildren: Kimberly and Alyson from Alton and Martha, and Erin and Ian from Randall and Shelley were a source of joy in Harriet's life as were pictures, news, and visits from her 7 great grandchildren: Adeline and Elias Farmer, Callum and Phineas Day, Emerson, and Phoebe Spencer-Reed, and Jude Standish Spencer. A memorial service will be held at Center Congregational Church, 11 Center St. Manchester, CT on October 27 at 11:30 a.m. with a reception to follow.
