Harold N. Rowett

Harold N. Rowett, 89 of Manchester passed away Saturday, June 3, 2017 at Rockville General Hospital after an extended illness. He is survived by his loving family, daughter, Susan Rowett of Bolton, son Harold Rowett of St. Cloud, FL, daughter Elin Fortin and her husband Ray of East Hartford, numerous grandchildren, great-.grandchildren, a sister, Mary Clark of Ashford, a brother, Raymond Rowett of Manchester and several nieces and nephews. Harold was born in Manhattan, NY on June 26, 1927, son of the late Albert H. and Mary V. (Haley) Rowett and had lived in Manchester for most of his life. He proudly served his country with the U.S. Army during WWII. Prior to retiring he was manager of the Xtra Mart Convenience Store, Hartford Road Manchester for several years. He was a former member of the Army & Navy Club, Manchester Elks BPOE #1893 and Redman's Club. Besides his parents he was predeceased by two daughters, Jo-Ellen Rowett, Linda Lee Rowett and two brothers, Frederick Rowett and Albert Rowett. Funeral services will be Friday, June 9, 2017 at 10am at Holmes Funeral Home 400 Main St. Manchester. Burial will follow with military honors in East Cemetery. Family and friends may call Thursday, June 8, from 5-7pm at the funeral home. Memorial contributions may be made to American Cancer Society 825 Brook St. I-91 Tech. Ctr. Rocky Hill, CT 06067-3045.
