Hannah (Malinski) Hackney, 96 of South Windsor, formerly of Manchester and Somers, widow of Alexander Hackney, died Thursday, July 17, 2014 at her home. She was born in Somers on December 3, 1917, daughter of Frank and Anna (Buvarsky) Malinski. She was raised in Somers, attended local schools, and had been a resident of Manchester since 1972, moving to South Windsor in 2013. Prior to retiring in 1972 Hannah was employed at the former Hamilton Standard Company for twenty-five years. She was the CT. State Champion in the Woman's Downhill at Mad River Glen in 1947 and 1948. She was a founding member of the Manchester Area Conference of Churches (MACC), a long-standing member of Church of the Living God, and volunteered within the community in numerous capacities. Hannah is survived by a step-daughter, Linda Kaye and Linda's husband David of Avon, CT, several nieces and nephews, and several close friends. Besides her husband, she was predeceased by a step-daughter, Cynthia, a sister, and three brothers. A graveside service will be held Monday, July 21, at 11:00 AM in the East Cemetery (Section 16-D Harrison), at the corner of Harrison Street and Bissell Street in Manchester.
