Grace Elizabeth Wright

Grace Elizabeth Wright, 88, lifelong resident of Manchester, CT, died unexpectedly Tuesday, September 6, 2016 at the Hebrew Home Hospital in West Hartford.
Grace was born in Manchester on June 17, 1928, daughter of William G. and Lila B. (Libby) Wright, and was raised by her mother and her step-father, Simon Hellandbrand, after the death of William. She attended Manchester schools and also attended South United Methodist Church. Prior to retiring in 1985 she had been employed by the Travelers Insurance Company in Hartford for over thirty-seven years.
Grace enjoyed many years of travel around the world, a cruise to Alaska, Australia, touring most all of Europe, China, Canadian Rockies, visiting all 50 states, and cruising the Caribbean. She belonged to the Manchester Country Club Ladies Golf League, bowled with the Travelers league, and most recently was a member of the Duck Pin Perfume bowling team. Grace was a member for years at the Manchester Senior Center and volunteered at the Vernon Sr. Center. She enjoyed the European Health Spa, most recently changing over to LA Fitness, swimming three times a week over the past 46 years. She volunteered for years at the Bushnell in Hartford, Ct and the Mark Twain house. Grace had been a member of the Manchester Historical Society, volunteering for interviews on the history of Manchester.
She is survived by her loving niece and three nephews, Robin L. Sargent of Manchester, Todd Wright in Oregon, William Wright in Arizona, Greg Wright in Washington State, shared a special relationship with her twin grand nieces Lauren and Kristin Sargent, both of Manchester. This including many additional grandnieces, and grandnephews, she was proud to have lived to be a three times grand Aunt. Grace was predeceased by two sisters and a brother, Doris Hildebrand Warren, Marion Petway, and William J. Wright.
A visiting hour will be held Monday, Sept. 12, from 10:00 AM to 11:00 AM at the Watkins Funeral Home, 142 East Center Street, Manchester with the funeral service at 11:00 AM. Burial will follow in the East Cemetery in Manchester.
