Grace L. (Wetherall) Amsden, 89, of Manchester, beloved wife of the late Frank T. Amsden died unexpectedly at home on Saturday, May 2, 2015. She was born January 15, 1926 in Ryde, Isle of Wight, England daughter of the late Frank and Mildred Wetherall and had been a resident of Manchester since 1967. Grace was employed at the Mary Cheney Library and later worked for the Ambulance Service of Manchester for over 20 years until her retirement. She was a longtime member of St. Mary's Episcopal Church in Manchester where she was active in the Ladies Guild. Grace is survived by her son, Scott A. Amsden of Manchester with whom she made her home, three grandchildren; Ashley-Rose Amsden of Manchester, Pvt. Derek R. Amsden US. Army, Ft. Stewart, GA and Charlotte Rhodes of Manchester. She also leaves a special niece, Lynda Waddams and her husband, Arthur of England, two nephews; Gary and Michael Wetherall also of England and all their families. Her brother-in-law, Chick Amsden and his wife, Barbara of West Springfield, MA, her lifelong friends, Joan Neal and Hazel Champion both of England, dear friends; Lynn Rhodes, Miriam Gustow, Patricia Hancock, Minna Lonsdale, Marion Jackson and Woody Lopes, her daughter-sister-friend Sheryl Pintavalle and many, many other friends. In addition to her husband and parents she was predeceased by her brother, John Wetherall. Calling hours will be held on Thursday, May 7, 2015 from 6-8 pm at Holmes Funeral Home, 400 Main St. Manchester. Funeral services will be celebrated on Friday, May 8th at 11:00 am at St. Mary's Episcopal Church, 41 Park St. Manchester. Burial will follow in East Cemetery, Manchester.
