Gordon Hugh Lloyd

April 15, 1930 — August 10, 2014

Gordon Hugh Lloyd, 84, beloved husband of Virginia (Freeman) Lloyd for 52 years, born in Wymore, NE on April 15, 1930 to Hugh and Jennie (Jones) Lloyd, entered safely into the arms of Jesus on Sunday, August 10, 2014. He served in the US Air Force 1951-1955. He graduated from the University of Nebraska in 1959 with a BS in Agricultural Economics and worked for the Foreign Agriculture Service, Department of Agriculture in Washington, DC for 28 years. He served seven years overseas in Canada, Argentina and Japan and had many memories of travel to about twenty countries. Following his retirement in 1986, he volunteered helping the elderly and needy in Maryland until moving to Bolton, CT in 2001 where he volunteered with the Manchester Memorial Hospital, Meals on Wheels and was President of Bolton Seniors from 2006-2008. He was a member of the Presbyterian Church of Coventry and enjoyed serving where needed. He was an avid gardener and loved baseball. He was very proud of his Welsh heritage, and was a member of the Great Plains Welsh Heritage Project in Nebraska and attended meetings of the Welsh Society of Western New England. Beside his wife Virginia, he is survived by his son David and his wife Minori of Japan and daughter Lisa and husband James Moffitt of Manchester, CT. He was a loving grandfather of four grandsons, Kento and Tomu Lloyd and Joel and Adam Moffitt. He is also survived by one brother, Elmo Lloyd and sister-in-law Peggy Lloyd in Nebraska and several nieces and nephews. We are grateful for the prayers and loving care of our church family and friends and also for the excellent care received at the Crestfield/Fenwood Rehabilitation Center. Calling hours will be on Wednesday, August 13, 2014 from 2-4 & 6-8pm at Holmes Funeral Home, 400 Main St., Manchester. A memorial service will be celebrated Thursday August 21, 2014 at 7pm at the Presbyterian Church of Coventry, 55 Trowbridge Rd., Coventry. Burial will be private in Bolton Center Cemetery, Bolton.
