Gordon A. "Butch" Rideout, 68 of Manchester, loving husband for 42 years of Louise (Balesano) Rideout, the son of the late Lloyd Leeman and Lucy Ethel (Myshrall) Rideout, died on Friday December 30, 2016 at Hartford Hospital after a long term illness.
Butch, the youngest of fifteen children, was born in Millinocket, ME on April 28, 1948. With his wife he is survived by his son Brent and his daughter-in-law Kenya Rideout, their children Madyson and Jaxson. His brother Ken and his sisters Mim, Jane, Edy and Mitzi. His dear Aunt Pearl, a host of nieces, nephews & cousins. Besides his parents, Butch was predeceased by his siblings: Bill, Dick, Don, Jackie, Joyce, Gail, Patti, Carolyn, and Barbara.
Butch graduated from George W. Stearns High School (Millinocket) with the class of 1967 and then enlisted in the US Army. He was a combat veteran of the Vietnam War and served with the 173rd Airborne Division. Butch retired in 2010 from Allan S. Goodman Inc after twenty-three years of service. He was a long time member of the Teamsters Union Local 671 and Glastonbury Elks Lodge #2202.
After returning from Vietnam he resided in Hartford where he met Louise in 1973. On January 4th, Butch and Louise would have celebrated their 43rd wedding anniversary. The love he had for his family, especially his grandchildren, were his reason for living.
Visiting hours for family and friends will be on Sunday January 8th from 12:00pm to 3:00pm at the Holmes Funeral Home, 400 Main Street, Manchester.
