Gordon R. Anderson, Jr., 88, of Enfield, passed away peacefully on Saturday, September 19, 2026, at St. Francis Hospital in Hartford. Born on October 16, 1937, in Hartford, he was the son of the late Gordon R. Anderson, Sr. and Mary (Tucker) Anderson.

Shortly after graduating from high school, Gordon proudly enlisted in the United States Navy, where he honorably served his country. Following his discharge, he met his future wife, Gloria Islieb. The couple were together for over 62 years and eventually settled in Enfield, CT to raise their family.

Gordon was a longtime member of American Legion Post 80 and took great pride in supporting and spending time with his family. A devoted sports fan, he enjoyed cheering on his favorite teams, particularly the New York Yankees and Hartford Wolf Pack. He was also an enthusiastic supporter of both the UConn men’s and women’s basketball teams. When he wasn’t watching sports, Gordon enjoyed spending time outdoors, especially hunting and fishing.

Gordon will be deeply missed and forever loved by his wife, Gloria Anderson; his children, Philip Anderson, Tracy Libretto, and Tiffany Anderson; his sisters, Patricia Hebert and Jacqueline Montano; his five grandchildren; and numerous extended family members and friends.

In addition to his parents, Gordon was predeceased by his son, Gordon R. Anderson III, and his sisters, Shirley Hunt and Gertrude MacDonald.

In accordance with Gordon’s wishes, burial will be private. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital at www.stjude.org.
