Gertrude A. Simpson

Gertrude A. (Moran) Simpson, 92, of Manchester, beloved wife of the late William
A. Simpson died peacefully on Wednesday, September 26, 2018 at Glastonbury
Health Care. She was born on July 7, 1926 in Hartford one of six children of the
late Martin and Agnes (Doyle) Moran. Gert was employed for over 27 years as the
Office Manager of Gunver Manufacturing until her retirement in 1994. She was a
longtime Communicant of Church of Assumption in Manchester. Gert enjoyed
reading and spending time with her grandchildren. She is survived by her two sons and daughters-in-law; Ray and Barbara Simpson and Steven and Robin Simpson all of Manchester, her daughter and son-in-law Betty and Freddie Cranick of Crossville, TN, her five loving grandchildren; Marc Cranick and his wife Alyson and their two children; Matthew and Paityn, Cheryl Cranick, Bill Simpson, Travis Simpson and his fianc Kelly Masotta, Jared Simpson and his wife Anna and their two children; Evie and Madeline, one niece, many nephews and their families. In addition to her husband and parents, Gert was predeceased by her three brothers, two sisters, her niece Sharon, and her sister- in-law and best friend Mary Moran. Her family would like to thank the nurses and staff at Glastonbury Health Care and especially Dawn from Hospice for their kind and compassionate care. Calling hours will be at Holmes-Watkins Funeral Home, 400 Main St. in Manchester on Monday, October 1, 2018 from 6-8 PM. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at Church of Assumption, 29 Adams St. South in Manchester on Tuesday, October 2, 2018 at 10:00 AM. Everyone is asked to please go directly to the church. Burial will follow in St. James Cemetery in Manchester. Memorial contributions may be made to the Arthritis Foundation Inc. or to the American Heart Association.
