Gertrude Marcella Mcgee

November 17, 1921 — May 3, 2016

Marcella McGee, 94, lifelong resident of Manchester, widow of James J. McGee, died peacefully in the home where she was raised on Tuesday May 3, 2016.
She was born in Manchester on November 17, 1921, daughter of James and Mary (Sullivan) Holloran. She graduated from Manchester High School and prior to retiring was an executive secretary at The Hartford Insurance Company for over twenty-five years. She was a longtime parishioner of St. Bridget Church and volunteered for many civic and community organizations and events.
Marcella was a spunky and independent woman. She loved a good book and enjoyed the arts, nature, and sports. Her family and friends were her top priority, as were her dogs. She received great joy from her loving son and daughter-in-law, whom she adored. Her greatest pleasure came from her two granddaughters who, in her eyes, could do no wrong. Our "Baba" loved us, and we loved our "Baba".
She is survived by her son and daughter-in-law, James T. and Marcia McGee of Glastonbury, and two granddaughters, Lindsay McGee of Middletown and Michaela McGee of San Francisco.
A prayer service will be held Saturday, May 7, at 11:00 AM at the Holmes Funeral Home, 400 Main Street, Manchester with burial to follow in St Bridget Cemetery in Manchester. Visiting hours are Friday from 4 PM to 6 PM at the funeral home.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society, or the Humane Society of Connecticut. To leave a message for her family please visit www.holmes-watkinsfuneralhomes.com .
