Gertrude 'Trudy' Gagne

Gertrude "Trudy" (Meyer) Gagne, 76, of Vernon, beloved wife of the late Leo R. Gagne died peacefully on Tuesday, June 12, 2018 at Rockville General Hospital. She was born on January 24, 1942 in Manchester youngest of three children of the late George and Alice Meyer. Trudy was raised in Manchester attended local schools and was a graduate of Windham High School. She was a hard working woman and was employed with the former Pioneer Parachute and later for Pratt & Whitney Aircraft. She enjoyed camping with family, painting, refinishing furniture and wood working, and she was quite talented working with ceramics. She was always optimistic, and always had a smile on her face, even though she suffered, and battled a debilitating disease MS (multiple sclerosis) she was the strongest woman we had the pleasure to know, she truly was simply amazing. She will be missed, and forever adored by her beloved family, rest in paradise Gram Tooty. Trudy is survived by her two children; William Carter II. of Tolland and Jane Carter of Vernon with whom she made her home. Six loving grandchildren, Gina Carter, Jennifer Carter, Tara Carter, Lea Norton, Vincent Longobardi, Jessica Gaskell, nine great-grandchildren, her sister Kathy Sherakow, Joyce Wiggins and her husband Chuck of Windham, her former husband William J Carter Sr. of Tolland and several nieces and nephews. In addition to her husband and parents she was predeceased by her sister Gale Bertchell. Calling hours will be held from 6-8 pm on Tuesday, June 19, 2018 at Holmes-Watkins Funeral Home, 400 Main St. in Manchester. Funeral services will be held on Wednesday June 20, 2018 at 1 pm at the funeral home followed by burial in Valley Falls Cemetery, Vernon.
