Our dear mother, Germaine A. Patterson of Manchester passed away at her home Tuesday, August 4, 2015 surrounded by her loving family. She and her late husband, Richard V. Patterson, had been married 61 years at the time of his death. Germaine was born in 1923 in Bruxelles, Belgium, daughter of the late Aim and Caroline Verhelst and lived there at the time of the German occupation during WWII. While enjoying her favorite pastime during the war years -- dancing at the Red Cross -- she met Richard, the love of her life, just as the war ended. They were married in Belgium, and soon moved back to the US where they eventually settled in Manchester, raising their three children. Germaine and her husband were avid Square and Round-dancers, often traveling the country dancing in exhibitions. They enjoyed worldwide travels and spent their retirement winters in Marco Island, FL. Germaine loved to knit, crochet and sew and also volunteered at Manchester Memorial Hospital for 18 years pushing the gift cart to each room. Germaine will be greatly missed by her three daughters and their husbands: Aime and Richard Suhie of New Fairfield, CT; Patricia and Matt Tyszka of W. Hartland, CT; and Michèle and John Klebauskas of Marietta, GA. Germaine also has two grandchildren, Michael Suhie (Michele), and Diana Peck (Matt); and five great- grandchildren. Germaine is also survived by her older sister, Fran
