Gemma (DeMaria) Lido, 100, of Manchester, formerly of Coventry, beloved wife of the late Emil G. Lido died peacefully on Sunday, September 13, 2015 at home. She was born on April 21, 1915 in Minotola, NJ daughter of the late Rafael and Josephine (Chiletti) DeMaria. During WW II, Gemma was employed with the former Pioneer Parachute in Manchester supporting the war efforts. She is survived by her two daughters and a son-in-law, Joyce Porter of Manchester and Judith and William Cowell of Farmington, her two grandchildren; Andrew Cowell and his wife, Tricia and their daughter, Sloane, all of West Hartford and Kathryn Reaves and her husband John and their son Carter all of Farmington, many nieces, nephews and their families and her longtime friend and neighbor Suzanne Carter of Manchester. In addition to her husband and parents, Gemma was predeceased by her son-in-law, Winthrop Porter and all of her siblings. Gemma's family would like to thank all of her caregivers and aides for their love and devotion they showed over the years. A calling hour will be held on Thursday, September 17, 2015 at Holmes Funeral Home, 400 Main St. Manchester from 10-11 am with a service at 11 am. Burial will follow in East Cemetery, Manchester.
