Gail B. Meyers, beloved mother and friend, was reunited with the love of her life, Edward S. Jaworski, on Saturday, January 17, 2026. Born December 13, 1937 to Harry Brotherton and Catherine (Katarzyna) Brotherton in New Britain, CT, she dedicated her life to following her dreams rather than doing what society expected.
A graduate of Hartford College for Women and UCONN, she spent over 25 years at IBM in technical roles. This included tutoring and supporting women to enter technical fields.
With her first husband, Peter G. Meyers, she had two children before he passed away in 1982. In 1987, she met the love of her life, Ed. They married in 1991 and had an adventure together that lasted for decades. They truly lived life to the fullest, traveling in many countries and also living a fairytale life in Alsace, France for 13 years, living near her son, Erik.
Returning to Connecticut in 2014, she and Ed spent the last years of their lives cherishing their friends and family before Ed's passing in February 2025. In October 2025, Gail was able to move to Charleston, SC, to be close to her daughter, Meredith.
Gail is survived by her son, Erik, her daughter, Meredith, her stepdaughter Michelle and her husband Jim, her stepdaughter Grace and grandsons Adam and Sam, great granddaughters Kaylin, Piper, and Riley, and her stepson Tony with his wife Chris and granddaughters Grace and Hope. She was predeceased by her stepdaughter Christine. Gail also leaves behind numerous friends in the US and abroad.
We will always remember her spirit, her strength, and her sense of adventure. She loved photography, traveling, learning, meeting new people and trying new things. One thing she was really known for was her love of tea, served with some cranberry juice: a unique choice for a unique person.
Calling Hours will be held at Holmes-Watkins Funeral Home, located at 400 Main Street, Manchester CT 06040 on Friday, February 6, 2026, from 4pm till 6pm. A Memorial Service will take place at Holmes Watkins Funeral Home on Saturday, February 7, 2026 at 10:00 AM. Burial is private at the request of family.
