Gratia “Reba” (Dalley) Bouchie, of South Windsor, Connecticut, beloved wife of the late George E. Bouchie (Sr.), passed away on November 10th from age-related complications. She was 94 years old. Reba was born Gratia Reba Dalley on April 10th, 1931 to Helen (Phillips) Dalley and Winfield Dalley in Moretown, Vermont. She did not care for her first name and although she never legally changed it, in adulthood she was addressed by her middle name.
Reba was the devoted mother of Linda Marie Hammer, George Edward Bouchie, Jr. and Edmund Lawrence Bouchie, and the loving grandmother of Madeleine Alina Bouchie, Carolyn Grace (Bouchie) Surprenant, Nathaniel Duncan Bouchie, Joseph Alexander Bouchie, and Lucas Edgar Bouchie. She was the dear sister of the late Winfield J., Robert, Phillip, Agnes, Neilan, Eugene, Clayton, and one sibling who died in childhood. She is survived by several nieces, nephews and other family.
Reba was raised in rural northern Vermont before moving to Concord, New Hampshire. It was in Concord, working at the (former) Highway Hotel, where she met and eventually married George in 1964. Reba and George settled in Medford, Massachusetts where they lived for approximately 40 years and raised their three children.
Reba adopted her husband’s Roman Catholic faith in adulthood and was active in Parish activities at St. Raphael’s in West Medford. She also enjoyed candlepin bowling, socializing and playing bocce at the Medford Boat Club, and following her beloved Red Sox. In their later years, Reba and George relocated to Manchester, Connecticut to be closer to family. George passed away there at her side in 2014.
Visiting hours will be held in the Dello Russo Funeral Home, 306 Main St., Medford, on Monday December 1st, from 3 PM to 6 PM, and again on Tuesday December 2nd at 10 AM, followed by a memorial mass celebrated in St. Raphael Church, 512 High St., Medford, at 11 AM. Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend. Services will conclude with burial at Oak Grove Cemetery, Medford.
