Florian A. Dufresne, 80, of Clearwater, Fl, a former longtime resident of East Hartford, CT, loving husband for 57 years of Huguette (Richard) Dufresne, died Monday, May 29, 2017 in Clearwater.
He was born on July 16, 1936 in Stukely, Quebec, Canada, son of Euclide and Elosia (Girouard) Dufresne. He was raised in Stukely, joined the Canadian Armed Forces and was honorably released after 3 years of service. He moved to Connecticut in 1961, and has been a resident of Florida since 2002. Prior to retiring Florian was employed by Mott Metallurgical Corporation for 39 years. He was a member of the Knights of Columbus and a former parishioner of St. Mary's Church in East Hartford.
With his wife, he is survived by two sons, J. Daniel Dufresne and his wife Laurie of Coventry, CT, and Gary Dufresne and his wife Laura of South Windsor, CT; seven grandchildren, Anthony, Justin, Emilie, Isabella, Karlee, Messina, and Monet; a great granddaughter, April; a brother, Paul Dufresne of Waterloo, Quebec, and many nieces and nephews.
Visiting hours for family and friends are Sunday, June 4, from 1 PM to 5 PM at the Holmes Funeral Home, 400 Main Street, Manchester, CT. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held Monday, June 5, at 1:00 PM at St. Mary's R.C. Church, 1600 Main Street, Coventry, CT 06238. Burial will follow in St. Mary's Cemetery.
