Evelyn L. Tedford

Evelyn L. (Davis) Tedford, 94, of Manchester, wife of the late John V. Tedford passed away peacefully at home surrounded by her loving family on Wednesday, May 4, 2016. Evelyn was born on December 2, 1921 in North Scituate, RI daughter of the late Frank P. Davis and Ida Davis Howard. She was married for 62 years to the love of her life John and was a loving mother, grandmother and great- grandmother who was always there for her family. Evelyn enjoyed family gatherings, canning vegetables from the garden, completing word jumbles, camping, crocheting beautiful doilies, bowling, watching Days of Our Lives and the Boston Red Sox games. She lived her life with dignity, grace and kindness. Evelyn had amazing inner strength, courage and determination to live independently after her husband John died in 2009. She loved her family and her family returned that unending love to her. Evelyn is survived by her two children; Rick Tedford and his wife Sandy of Windham and Deb Tedford of South Glastonbury, her four loving grandchildren; Rick Tedford Jr. and his wife Beth of Stafford, Neil Tedford of Meriden, Joe Milone and his wife Allie Perry of Hamden and Anne Marie Milone and XL. Garrison III. and their son XL. Garrison IV. of South Windham and her special friend Jane Hopkins of South Glastonbury. She is also survived by three sister-in-laws and numerous nieces, nephews and their families. In addition to her husband and parents she was predeceased by her two brothers and five sisters. Evelyn's family would like to thank the Aides and staff from the Elder Care Associates and the VNA Hospice Team who provided her with the care and support she needed to achieve her goal of remaining in her own home. Calling hours will be at Holmes Funeral Home, 400 Main St. Manchester on Monday, May 9th from 4-7 pm and Tuesday, May 10th from 10-11 am. A service will be held on Tuesday, May 10th at 11:00 am at the funeral home followed by burial in East Cemetery, Manchester.
