Evelyn Elliott Darby

Evelyn (Elliott) Darby, 84, of Manchester, beloved wife of the late Earl F. Darby passed away Wednesday, June 25, 2014. Evelyn was born September 9, 1929 in Hartford, daughter of William J. and Mary E. (Clifford) Elliott. She was raised in Glastonbury and moved to Manchester where she has resided for most of her life. She loved to read novels, and was an avid fan of the UConn Men's and Women's Basketball. Evelyn is survived by her loving family, two daughters, Colleen Temple and her husband, Stephen of Manchester and Melissa Smith and her husband, George and their children, Leslie Smith of Flower Mound, Texas and Taylor Smith of Seattle, WA. Also surviving are several brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law. Besides her husband and parents, Evelyn was predeceased by two sisters, Frances B. Leach, Ethel Damon and a brother, William Bennett. Family and friends are invited to attend calling hours at Holmes Funeral Home 400 Main St. Manchester on Saturday, June 28, from 10am to 12 noon, followed with a funeral service at 12 noon.
