Eugene M. Griffin, 84, of Ellington, formerly of Manchester, beloved husband of Cindy (Booth) Griffin, passed away Friday, August 25, 2017 at Johnson Memorial Hospital, Stafford Springs. He was born in Hartford, September 24, 1932, son of the late Henry and Pauline (Crowther) Griffin. He lived in Manchester for most of his life, graduated from Manchester High School, Class of 1950 and prior to retiring in 1990 he worked as a diesel mechanic for Pratt & Whitney Aircraft East Hartford. He moved to Ellington in 2011 and in past years he enjoyed caning chairs, camping with his family, was a former member of Second Congregational Church, Manchester and also enjoyed singing in the church choir. Besides his wife, Cindy, he is survived two daughters, Janine Griffin of Manchester, Brenda Pollock of Northwood, ND, special grandchildren, Tara and Dev, a foster brother, Sydney Cushman and his wife, Priscilla of Manchester, and several nieces and nephews and their families. He was predeceased by his first wife of 45 years, Susan (Schaller) Griffin, and his son, Dennis Griffin. A Memorial Service will be Saturday, September 16, 2017 at 11am at Enfield Congregational Church 1295 Enfield St. corner of Route 5 and South Road, Enfield. Burial will be private.
