Ethel Larus

Ethel (Thompson) Larus, 93 of Bloomfield, CT, formerly of Avon, CT, loving wife of the late Charles T. Larus, slipped peacefully away from this life on May 11, 2017 at her home in Bloomfield, CT

Ethel was born in Boston, MA on July 30, 1923, daughter of Thomas and Caroline Thompson. She was raised in Quincy, MA. Ethel was a long time resident of Avon, CT and retired with her beloved husband Charlie to Hendersonville, North Carolina for 20 years. They returned to Connecticut 10 years ago to spend their final years at Seabury Retirement Community in Bloomfield, Ct where Ethel enjoyed a happy life with many friends and a caring, nurturing Seabury staff especially her companion Olga.

Ethel spent many years traveling to all corners of the world with Charlie and especially loved Antarctica.
Second only to her great love for Charlie, was her love for her Welsh Corgi, Chipper, and after his passing, surrounded herself with miniature corgi figures to always keep Chipper in her heart. Ethel loved gardening and together with Charlie created beautiful gardens wherever they lived. Ethel especially enjoyed going out to dinner and trips around her beloved New England.

Ethel adored her family and her favorite moments were those spent in their presence on holidays and special family occasions. Her smile, her kindness and her sense of humor will be missed by all who knew and loved her.

She is survived by two nephews, Paul Morrissette and his wife Melinda of Granby, CT and Tom Morrissette and his wife Nan of Falmouth, ME; a grand niece and four grand nephews, Leigh Bryer and her husband Jason and their children Alexis and Bode, Seth Morrissette and his wife Erin and their children Lilly and Abigail, Thom Morrissette and his wife Kelly and their children James and Ryan, Matthew Morrissette and his wife Kelsie, and Michael Morrissette.

All services are private. Ethel will be set in her final resting place at Brookside Cemetery in Oxford, CT at a later date.

Memorial contributions may be made to Elizabeth Park Conservancy at Elizabethparkct.org under the support tab or as a final tribute to Ethel's kindness and generosity perform a "Random Act of Kindness" .
