Ernestine C. Brown

Ernestine "Ernie" C. (Catalano) Brown, of Manchester passed away on January 18, 2021. Born July 4, 1927 in Manchester CT, to the late Antonio and Mary (Bianchi) Catalano. Ernie was a devout Catholic, being a member of and then serving as a communicant for St. Bridget church for 75 years. She enjoyed playing cards with her former classmates of Manchester class of 45, of which she was the chairman for their reunion committee. If you were ever looking for Ernie in the morning, you could find her at Fanis on Main St. Ernie was also an avid duckpin bowler but was not only a woman of leisure. She worked for twenty-eight years as an administrative assistant for the State of Connecticuts legislative commissioners office. Ernie is predeceased by her son, Robert E. Brown Jr., her parents as well as her brothers; John and Albert Catalano, her sisters; Carmela Cucci, Anne Linebaugh, and Josephine Dickenson, as well as the love of her life, Bernie Hickey. Ernie leaves behind her son, Richard Brown and his wife Jane, and daughter Debra Kapura and husband Gregory. She also leaves her precious grandchildren, Amanda and Anthony Mangene, Richard and Tracey Brown, and Joshua Brown, and Ian and Katelin Kapura, and Eric Kapura. She also leaves behind her great grandchildren, Elijah, Mason, Bo, Drew, Tielar, Nina, Elaina, Jude, Emma, and Blake. As well as her numerous nieces, nephews, and their families. There will be a funeral mass at St. Bartholomews, January 22, at 10 A.M with burial to follow at St. James Cemetery.
