Ernest H. Pallein, 88 of Manchester, beloved husband of the late Elaine (Gibson) Pallein and father of the late Ernest J. Pallein, passed away Wednesday, April 19, 2017 at Manchester Manor with his family at his side. Ernest was born in Manchester November 13, 1928 son of the late Michael and Anna (Pieger) Pallein and was a lifelong resident. He graduated from Manchester High School Class of 1946 and proudly served his country with the U. S. Army during the Korean War. He retired from the Manchester Memorial Hospital Engineering Department as a carpenter. He was an avid fisherman, enjoyed building items, working with crafts and spending time coloring with his grandchildren. Ernest is survived by his loving family, two sons, Mark D. Pallein and his wife, Marta of Lebanon, Michael G. Pallein and his wife, Maria of Columbia, five grandchildren, Justin M. Pallein, Hannah B. and Justin Corso, Mariah L. and Chris Whitehouse, Meadow O. Pallein, Alexander C. Pallein, a great-granddaughter, Piper Pallein, two sisters-in-law, Marion Pallein of Manchester, Ruth Jobert of Surry, NH, numerous nieces, nephews and their families and a special friend Carol Kukucka of Andover who was like a daughter to Ernest. His family would like to give a special thank you to the staff at Manchester Manor, some of whom treated Ernest as like one of their own family members, with their joking and teasing and compassionate care, which ended up being just the right medicine for him. Funeral services will be Tuesday, April 25, at 11 am at Holmes Funeral Home 400 Main St. Manchester with visitation from 10 am to 11 am at the funeral home. Burial will be in East Cemetery.
