Ernest John Leemon, age 91, died peacefully in his home on March 3, 2018 in Manchester, CT after a long and wonderful life. Mr. Leemon was born on May 9, 1926 in Manchester, CT to his parents, Thomas and Martha (Boyle) Leemon.
He graduated from Manchester High School in 1944 then joined the U.S. Navy where he served in the South Pacific. He then graduated from Bentley College of Boston in 1948. He married Janet Ritchie on September 21, 1951. The Leemons lived in Manchester where Ernest worked for the Hartford Insurance Group for 42 years.
Ernie was a devoted husband of 61 years until Jan passed away in 2013. Together Ernie and Jan created a wonderful life that included love, friendship, and square dancing. Ernie and Jan spent their retirement years in Bradenton, Florida.
He is preceded in death by his wife, Janet R. Leemon; his sister, Florence Ford; and his brother, James Leemon. Ernie is survived by his daughter Nancy Leemon of Manchester, daughter and son-in-law, Karen and Tom Murphy of Southlake, Texas and granddaughter Jordan of Dallas, Texas; his son, Andrew Leemon and daughter-in-law Lori Griffin, grandsons Kyle and Griffin of Lander, Wyoming and granddaughter Erin Leemon of Denver, Colorado. He also leaves several beloved nieces, nephews, and a brother and sister in law.
A Memorial Service will take place on Friday, March 9, 2018 at 10:30 a.m. at St Mary's Church, 41 Park St, Manchester, CT. All are welcome to attend and celebrate Mr. Leemon's life.
