Emily (Yanchinsky) Scarchuk, age 92 of Manchester, CT, formerly of Coventry, CT, wife of the late John M. Scarchuk, died Monday January 30, 2017 at Manchester Memorial Hospital.
Born in New Britain, CT on April 10, 1924, daughter of Paul and Theodozia (Malakowski) Yanchinsky, she was raised in the Hartford area. She graduated from Hartford Public High School and had been a longtime member of the All Saints Orthodox Church in Hartford. Emily was a resident of Coventry from 1967, before moving to Manchester in 2000. She was a former member of the Nathan Hale Fife & Drum Corp and the Coventry Historical Society.
She is survived by two sons and daughters-in-law, Michael Scarchuk Sr. and his wife Linda of Canton, and Robert Scarchuk and his wife Susan of Columbia; four grandchildren, Vicki Barry and her husband Patrick, Michael Scarchuk Jr, David Scarchuk, and Megan Scarchuk; two great-grandchildren, Danica and Ashton Barry, and several nieces and nephews. Besides her husband, Emily was predeceased by her brother and sister-in-law, Leonard and Rita Yanchinsky.
Funeral services are private. She will be buried next to her husband in the East Cemetery in Manchester. There are no visiting hours. Memorial contributions may be made to a charity of the donor's choice.
