Elsie K. Swanson

Elsie (Keish) Swanson, age 99 of Manchester, CT, loving wife of the late Ralph A. Swanson, died Friday, February 9, 2018 at a local convalescent home.

Elsie was born in Manchester on May 11, 1918, daughter of William and Katherine (Schlund) Keish and was a lifelong Manchester resident, attending local schools, and was a longtime and active member of Emanuel Lutheran Church.

She served as a 4-H leader and was active in Hartford County 4-H activities. Elsie was also a member of the Manchester Garden Club and Horticultural Group, the Manchester Historical Society, the Koffee Krafters Club, and AARP Chapter 1275.

She is survived by two daughters, Ingrid S. (Virr) Fraize and her husband Bill of South Windsor, CT, and Evelyn S. Collard and her husband Jack of Vero Beach, FL; two grandchildren, Jeffrey T. Virr, his wife Christine, and their son Avery of South Windsor, and Katherine J. Parent, her husband Larry, and their children Jordan and Justin of Ashford, CT; two step-grandchildren, Thomas Fraize, his wife Sara, and their children Braxtin and Marzena of South Windsor, and Eric Fraize, his wife Shannon, and their daughter Lilliana of South Windsor, and numerous nieces, nephews, grandnieces and grandnephews. She also leaves her close friends Dr. Eamon and Sheila Flanagan and her devoted friends Marge and Rod Anderson.

Besides her husband, Elsie was predeceased by three sisters and a brother, Emma Wesson, Eva Aronson, Louise Bengtson, and William Keish Sr.

A memorial service will be held Saturday, February 17, 10: 00 AM at the Emanuel Lutheran Church, 60 Church Street, Manchester. Burial will be private in the East Cemetery in Manchester. There are no calling hours. Memorial contributions may be made to the Emanuel Lutheran Church Structural Preservation Fund, the Hartford County 4-H Camp c/o Elsie Woolam, 1225 Main Street, South Windsor, CT 06074, or a charity of the donor's choice.
