Elsie F. Bedell

Elsie F. (McCann) Bedell, 92, of Manchester beloved wife of the late Frank E. Bedell Sr., died peacefully on Sunday, December 25, 2016 at Crestfield Rehabilitation Center. She was born on November 16, 1924 in Manchester daughter of the late James and Mary (Finnegan) McCann. Elsie was raised in Manchester, attended local schools and had been a lifelong resident. Prior to retiring, she had been employed with Cheney Brothers, Pioneer Parachute and the Manchester Country Club. She was a longtime member of Trinity Covenant Church in Manchester. Elsie is survived by her son and two daughters-in-law; Alan and Kathryn Bedell of Vernon and Suzanne Bedell of Glastonbury, three loving grandchildren; Wade Bedell and Michelle Paluska and their son Jaxson of Glastonbury, Lindsey Bedell of Manchester, and Rory Bedell and his fianc Anna Podolsky and their daughter Mazzy of Norwich. She also leaves her two sisters; Elizabeth McCarthy of Manchester and Dorothy Nightingale of Coventry and numerous wonderful nieces, nephews and their families. Elsie's family would like to extend a very special thank you to the nurses and staff at Fenwood & Crestfield and the Vernon Visiting Nurse Hospice Team for their kind and compassionate care over the last several months. In addition to her husband, Elsie was predeceased by her son Frank E. Bedell Jr., her four brothers; Tom, Woodrow, Elmore and Franklin and her four sisters; Martha, Hannah, Edna and Lucy. Calling hours will be held at Trinity Covenant Church, 302 Hackmatack St. Manchester on Friday, December 30, 2016 from 10:00-11:30 am with a service to celebrate her life at 11:30 am. Burial will follow in East Cemetery, Manchester. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to Trinity Covenant Church or to the Shriner's Children's Hospital, 516Carew St. Springfield, MA 01104-2396.
