Elizabeth "Betty" London, 97, beloved wife of 60 years to the late Ivan E. London, passed away peacefully at home on Saturday November 2, 2024.
Betty was predeceased by her parents, Gilbert and Elizabeth Graham of Manchester, brother George and his wife Sherwood Graham of Long Island NY, and sister Essie Strimaitis of Manchester.
She is survived by her three children; sons Dr. Raymond London of South Windsor and Barry London of Manchester; daughter Gail Springer and husband Patrick, of Palmetto FL and Bristol RI; four grandchildren, Carolyn Owen and husband Kirk, Sheryl Holleran, Erin London and Pamela Brooks and husband Rob; great-grandchildren Alexis and Jack; along with many nieces, nephews, and dear friends.
Born in June 1927 Betty was a lifelong resident of Manchester. As a wife and busy stay at home mother of three, she also cared for her mother who lived next door. She dedicated time to her faith as a longtime member of St. Mary's Episcopal Church and was an active school volunteer. Later, she had a 25 year career at the Travelers Insurance Company as an associate collection analyst in the Casualty Property Division. In retirementBetty and Ivan enjoyed winters in Florida and summer fun with family at the Columbia Lake cottage. They enjoyed dancing, traveling, cruises and family gatherings. Betty was also a sports enthusiast and avid fan of Tom Brady and the New England Patriots. Later in life when Ivan was ill, she cared for him with immense love and dedication. Her dedication to her family was always a priority. Betty was a loving wife, mother, "Grammy" and "GG", who will be greatly missed.
She will be laid to rest at East Cemetery Manchester, on Wednesday November 13, 2024 with a graveside service which will be private at the request of her family.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the St. Joseph's Indian School, The Humane Society or the Lymphoma Research Foundation.
